Invest in Public Education from Pre-K to Adulthood
I believe everyone in Chicago deserves access to a quality education. That means investing in our youth, our neighborhood schools, and offering more adult education resources opportunities locally. My experience as a social worker and in Chicago Public Schools has shown me firsthand how important our schools are to our communities. Our schools are community anchors and our communities can thrive when they are fully funded and resourced.
As Alderwoman, I will:
Fight for fully funded public schools and wrap around school-based services. Our schools deserve an equitable school funding formula that considers the needs of low income and diverse student populations.
Support the expansion of bilingual and STEM programming, the addition of more school counselors, social workers and trauma informed professional development for teachers and staff.
Champion the expansion of fully funded universal pre-k in Chicago.
Advocate the use of Tax Increment Finance (TIF) funds towards renovating and retrofitting public school buildings to clean, renewable energy.
